A guide · fact-checked July 2026

Between acting and directing, Laura Prepon built a whole second identity around food and wellness — two books, a bestseller, and a cooking brand.

The Stash Plan (2016)

Prepon's first book, co-written with the integrative nutritionist Elizabeth Troy, is The Stash Plan: Your 21-Day Guide to Shed Weight, Feel Great, and Take Charge of Your Health. Published in March 2016, it debuted on the New York Times best-seller list. The program rests on three ideas: cooking with bone broth, "stashing" (batch-prepping proteins, carbohydrates, and vegetables in twice-weekly sessions so healthy meals are always on hand), and targeted stretching. It blends modern nutrition with elements of Chinese Meridian Theory, and its pitch is feeling better and less bloated without counting calories. Notably, it is not a plant-based diet — bone broth and animal proteins sit at its center.

You and I, as Mothers (2020)

Her second book, You and I, as Mothers: A Raw and Honest Guide to Motherhood, was published by Abrams in April 2020. Part memoir, part guide, it draws on Prepon's own unconventional upbringing and her experience as a new mother, and it deliberately centers the mother's wellbeing — stress, self-care, partnership, and asking for help — rather than only the mechanics of childcare. It folds in international perspectives on motherhood and a set of practical recipes, from kids' meals to date-night dinners.

PrepOn Kitchen and the cooking content

Prepon's food life extends beyond the page into PrepOn Kitchen, her kitchenware and cooking brand, which she has promoted through Food Network coverage, HSN segments, and her social channels. It grows naturally out of the batch-cooking philosophy at the heart of The Stash Plan: the idea that a little preparation makes everyday healthy eating realistic. Across the books and the brand the throughline is consistent — whole foods, home cooking, and wellbeing over restriction.
